i'm root. i use ps to find out pid of processse i wanna kill. i type "kill xxx" but the process is still there ! what the heck ...!?

use "kill -9 xxx" - The process will be sent a KILL signal that will end it immediately. Be careful though, as you may leaves bits of the process hanging round in memory etc.
