hey im in the middle of installin unbuntu on my ps3 and i was followin a guide from the PS fourms.


now i got to a bit where it said "it will come to a command line, when it say (kboot) just hit enter"

so i did.

but now its on a nother command page and says.


"busybox v1.1.3 (debian 1:1.1.3-subuntu9) built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands."


so i typed in "help"

and came up with some stuff and i dunno wot to press or do???

can some1 help me out asap please

It's quite possible that you have an ubuntu distro that is not meant to contain a desktop environment. If you downloaded it, it may be possible that you weren't sure what you were downloading and ended up with a command line version of it. I of course am no guru about this stuff and could be wrong, but it has happened to me before. If your interested in installing linux on your ps3, i suggest looking into yellowdog linux because there is a version of it that was designed and tailored from the ground up to run on the ps3 architecture. Check it out at distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=yellowdog you can find every linux distro that you want there and possibly one other than ubuntu that you might be into. Other than that look through the list of commands I think there may be a command in there to boot the desktop environment. Also in future posts, you'll get more help if you include the distro name, release number, and code name.

Try running "startx" - I have never come across an Ubuntu that didn't have a GUI, but that it not to say that it will necessarily run on a PS3.
