I'm running a new stage 3 install x86 and I can't emerge rhythmbox because when it tries to emerge gcc it fails

make[2]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/sys-devel/gcc-3.3.6-r1/work/build/gcc'
make[1]: *** [stage2_build] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/sys-devel/gcc-3.3.6-r1/work/build/gcc'
make: *** [bootstrap-lean] Error 2

!!! ERROR: sys-devel/gcc-3.3.6-r1 failed.
Call stack:, line 1614: Called dyn_compile, line 971: Called qa_call 'src_compile', line 44: Called src_compile, line 1304: Called toolchain_src_compile

toolchain.eclass, line 1552: Called gcc_do_make
toolchain.eclass, line 1426: Called die

!!! emake failed with bootstrap-lean
!!! If you need support, post the topmost build error, and the call stack if relevant.
!!! A complete build log is located at '/var/tmp/portage/sys-devel/gcc-3.3.6-r1/temp/build.log'.

That would be the block of code that is failing. I'm not sure why it is and I can't track down a solution. If it matters I'm running gcc-4.1.2 be default but I'm not sure why that would be messing anything up

Gentoo ROCKS!!!!! Go and emerge the world
