Probably a stupid problem, but I just started using linux yesterday since i found out that windows sucks, and im having a problem.
[root@MSHOME Desktop]# ./jre-1_5_0_09-linux-i586-rpm.bin bash: ./jre-1_5_0_09-linux-i586-rpm.bin: Permission denied As you can see, I'm logged in as root, so it shouldn't be a permission problem, right? |

I'm not entirely sure what the point is that you are trying to make (and "only" 15 months after the last post) but I think it has something to do with a dislike for file permissions. File permissions are a fundamental part of any UNIX operating system and even Windows (apparently everyone has forgotten how to spell) has a crude implementation of them. They are perhaps the single biggest reason that UNIXes are less vulnerable to malware.
