Whats this Lie-nix Thing?

It gives me the option to login as a root or a user, but I can't get to the GUI (KDE)

I installed Mandrake 8

I've had this problem before, but I forgot how to do it, PLEASE HELP ASAP!!!

From the console you can issue the command "startx" and it will start the X-windowing system for you.

If you wish to have the GUI login on each reboot, then you need to make sure you have a login manager installed like xdm, kdm or gdm. If you do, then you need to edit the /etc/inittab file and change the default runlevel to 5 .
