Here is the entry in my crontab file:

30 * * * * root backup.sh

The backup.sh runs well from the command line as it sits in /sbin.
But from cron it just don't start. I am logged in with root.
Tryed to restart crond, to edit the personal root cron file (crontab -e).
Nothing works... Help...

cron does not use the same environment path as a regular user. Therefore you must include the entire path to your script i.e.

30 * * * * root /path/to/backup.sh
