Hello Staff/Readers and particularly jetblackz for your help with my earlier WinLinux 2003 question,

I really appreciate jetblackz suggestions for additional cd-rom links. Now to another pressing issue: I have an internal US Robotics 56K Voice Win modem; it appears winmodems do not support Linux distributions. Can a compatible external modem be used without costing a "big bundle?" PC specs: Dell XPS T-500 with 256 RAM and adequate hard drive space; 500 MHz.

Sincerely, a possible newbie to Linux
Scott Dietert

You're welcome.

You could pick up a used external modem for cheap. Shop around. Look at newsgroups. Also, liquidation(?) stores would be a good place to go.

I heard winmodems aren't supported, but it doesn't hurt to look for cues in *linux* newgroups at
