Whats this Lie-nix Thing?

I have a simple file server running Debian sarge (3.1) on my small home network. My problem is when more than one user is transfering anything the rates slow way down. I have a couple of spare ethernet cards lying around and I wondered if there was a way to spread the traffic among more than one card. For example if someone is transfering something big, the next user would automatically connect to the second card, and when that one gets bogged down, the third would kick in, etc. (I have lots of PCI slots!) laugh.gif Is there any way to configure this? I have googled to no avail. I read something about bonding, which I think is like binding, but I don't think either of those are what I want, but maybe? Thanks for any help anyone can provide.
