I am new to linux. I have never used it before and am still new to the terminology, etc. I am SO SICK OF WINDOWS so I switched. Anyway, it tells me to do this:

1) Kernel sources must be installed and configured. Usually this means
installing the 'kernel-source', 'make' and 'gcc' packages with YaST2.

2) Use the nvidia installer for 1.0-8762.

sh -q

3) Configure X.Org with

sax2 -r -m 0=nvidia (0 is a digit, not a letter!)

I have no idea what this means!? What do I do? I have SUSE Linux 10.1

Any help would be AWESOME! biggrin.gif

I'm a noob too. And I just got KDE running on my machine with SUSE 10.1 with a lot of help on this forum.
After booting SUSE, hold ctrl+alt+f3 , and login as root.
type init 3 to kill the broken gui.
login again as root and do as follows:
Copy the Nvidia driver ( - in your case-) to your root home directory.
Then, logged in as root, type yast2 and selected -software -software management- and tab to the search option.
search for kernel-source first, then tab to accept, and after it installs, answer yes to search for more.
Search for make, and gcc respectively and accept and install them as well.
Then, follow the SUSE directions as follows:
as root type-
sh -q
sax2 -r -m 0
(zero above not the letter O)
sh -K
(if you get a warning about already having the Kernel then retype the line above without the -K)

This did it for me.

Learning to fly is easy, just throw yourself at the ground and miss.
