I have posted a request for assistance on this issue in several forums without getting it fixed. I really hope that one of you will be able to help me!
Ubuntu 6.06 Dapper Drake Kernel 2.6.15-19-386 Problem device: LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1693S KS0A Here is a LINK to my post on the Ubuntu forums. It contains the debugging output from K3b. When I installed Ubuntu 5.10 on a spare HD I was very happy with how easy it was to set up and get running. Setting up my conexant dial up modem sucked but other that it was smooth. The only thing that I could not get to work was my Lite-On DVDRW. It would not burn a CD or DVD. The strange thing was that it acted like it WAS burning it. The operation would complete without generating an error and it would eject the CD saying burn successful. When you put the disc back in Serpentine would pop back up saying "Hey guy you just put in a blank CD what do you want to do now?" So I thought it was an issue with Serpentine so I installed gnomebaker. Same thing there. I then tried K3b, cdrecord in the CLI, and Graveman all with the same results. I tried reinstalling cdrtools, cdrecord, and cdrdao and several different types of media. At last I downloaded KDE and tried it their (I know it wouldn't make a difference but I was grasping for straws! ) I posted a couple of times in the forums all to no avail. I jumped into the IRC channel just to see if they could help and was told to "just wait for dapper it is teh bestzors and will make everything all better.....it even roundhouse kicked Chuck Norris once". So I figure oh well Dapperclaus is coming in a few weeks so I will just suck it up and go on. Well guess what.......it still doesn't work. In the post that I linked to up top their I left the debug output from K3b if that helps. This is the last thing that is keeping me from dropping windows all together on my desktop so if anyone can help me I can offer up 2 virgins, 6 cabbages and a goat. Well ok maybe not but I will be forever endebted to you! |
