hi my name is ashwin.i download linux 2.6.9 kernel and tried compiling it using commands like "make" and other simmilar commands and created the bzimage and done all the procedure correctly when i try to reboot the system and when the kernel starts to uncompress itself i am getting an error stating

<0>Kernel panic-not syncing :no init found

i am not good in linux could some one help to rectify this error please

IF you are new to Linux, then you probably shouldn't be compiling your own kernel. What distribution are you using?
