I am new to Linux, I have experimented with different versions and have decided to use Xandros 3.0. The problem I have with this program is downloading and installing programs. for instance I have been trying to install a newer version of firefox, I downloaded the program to my desktop, but when I tried to open it there is no way or icon to install it. This is my biggest complaint about linux, with all the technology that they have it looks like they would be able to come up with a simpler way of downloading programs. Or maybe the point is I don't know what I am doing, probably the latter. But I could sure use your help. Thanks RM

When you donwload firefox, you probably got a compressed set of files. Extract them, (using a program like Ark or FileRoller) and then open a terminal windows.

"su -" to get root access
"cd /to/directory/you/extraced/firefox/to"
"./firefox-installer"

Which should luanch the Fx installer program.
