I am trying to install java on my suse system because many apps dependencies require java, the file i have is renamed to make it shorter but the same extension, it is: j2re-rpm.bin and is in the dir /root

I cant figure out how to open the file, i also cant find any help regarding the comman line rules for bin files, i can for other extensions but not the main binary installers. odd!

help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Grant.

to install bin files just make it executable by chmoding it +x
and just running the file by the following:

./file-name.bin
