I was reading the guide on this site found here:
http://www.linuxhelp.ca/guides/samba/

and I got it all setup and such that it should work, only thing is, at the part where it says to Setup windows machines it tells you to go to the network properties in the control panel, go to Client for Microsoft Networking properties and then choose the option Log on to Windows NT domain and supply the domain name to get it all setup and working......

only problem is, most people these days, including myself use XP home and when you go to the Client for Microsoft Networking properties, there is no option for Log on to Windows NT domain ...... the only options I have to choose from are: Windows Locator or DCE Cell Directory Service

I have read in books and online and they all say to set it to the Log on to Windows NT domain option but no where does it say "if you do not have that option, do this...... " etc.... so basically I am asking, what do I need to do instead to get this to work? Is there another way around this? Can I install something else to give me that logon to NT option or am I just left with having to back and install Win 95/98 to get it to work? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Hello,

Unfortunately Windows XP Home edition cannot work in a domain, it's is for HOME use only.

You need Windows XP Professional. And there is NO workaround for this.

Sincerely
