configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C compiler cannot create executables.


i'm fairly new to linux, running the newest version of ubuntu, trying to compile xmms. any ideas? thanks for helping a newbie out.

gcc needs to be installed on your system.

apt-get install gcc

You may have to enabled too your repositories in /etc/apt/sources.list

Just remove the '# ' in front of anything that (after that) begings with 'deb'.
