Whats this Lie-nix Thing?

Alright well, Im new to linux and I have been working at it for a week days now (about 6) and I'm having some problems with ubuntu (5.10).

Now right now I get an error every time I use apt-get...

ex:

Now installing rpm's is still iffy so if some one could explain it that would be awesome...thanks

Debian uses .deb, not .rpm.

While you can try installing RPM files via alien, it's not the best idea. You'll probably end up breaking something.

It looks like you're not running apt-get as root.

Are you doing the following?

sudo apt-get upgrade
