i installed suse 10.0. I have also put xmms on it and it wont play...i treat it the same as winamp.i try to load from my ext drive and it wont do anything. also amarok and kaffeine only plays mp3s and .avi's in ffwd with no sound and yes my sound card works. if any one could help that'd be great.if not give me some advice on a new os. i have 32 and 64 bit xp. and want something more advanced. Because 64 bit has adware and it wont go away. so i tried suse and im lost. i figured out how to install apps. but mp3s wont play. please help.

Your sound card might work, but you might not have the proper modules loaded.

If you arn't getting any sound, and the files skip to the end, that would be the cause.

If system sounds work (for example, KDE makes sounds when you log in), and only mp3s don't work, install xmms-mp3 (yast should have that in it's repository).
