I have realy interesting thing...
I think "do-loop" describes it best...

Its a dependency problem.

One, you shouldn't use deb packages in Ubuntu. Ya I know tha Ubuntu is a debian based distro, ya I know alot of them work, but don't.

Use apt-get if you don't know how to do that, you need to learn.

If you want to find available packages search for it with apt-cache search vlc

then to install the package you want run

apt-get install vlc

*both commands need to be run as sudo or su

That will install vlc along with any dependencies it needs.
