I just installed RedHat 8.0 on an old PII-400. I wanted to set up this system to test PHP scripts (accessing MySQL) before putting them on a live server.

I can't get Apache2 and PHP 4.2 to work together. I know it's a httpd.conf file thing, but I really don't know Linux or Unix. I also tried this install on a Windows XP laptop. Same problem, the httpd.conf file must be manually edited, and I don't really know how. I've read the manuals on this, and it's just not working.

Can anyone help with either machine? I really need someone to speak with directly to get this done, and I would pay someone for the support.

Please e-mail me at if you can give me/sell me the 10 minutes of help needed or if you can point me in the right direction.

Apache 2.0.x broke support for the PHP module.

If you want to use apache + php I suggest you install 1.3.27 otherwise it's not going to be pretty.

Try searching for apache 2.0 php
