Whats this Lie-nix Thing?

first im using gentoo 1.4 rc2

my kernel:
ata/ide/mfm support
atapi cdrom support = y
scsi emulation = m

scsi support
scsi support = y (as module i cant boot)
scsi disk support = y
scsi cdrom = y
enable vendor specific = y
scsi generic support = m
probe all luns = y
verbose errors = y
aic7xxx = y
probe for isa vl aic7xxx = y

my cd-write is hdb
the modules ide-scsi sg sr_mod are loaded correctyl
i added the line append="hdb=ide-scsi" to my lilo.conf

but i have no emulated scsi device in /dev or dev/scsi

what can i do?
i hope anybody can help me

Install cdrecord and issue the command "cdrecord -scanbus" to see if it is detecting your cdrw.
