i read joey's ident setup guide and i still can't get ident to work.

the guide talks about editting inetd.conf, i don't see this file so i just assumed it was a type-o and meant identd.conf

the example identd.conf is no help and neither are the pident docs that come with the rpm.

any advice on configuring pidentd-3.0.12-4 w/redhat?

btw: before i installed redhat, i was using slackware and ident was working right after installing it [slackware] to my computer. i would like to use redhat because i just got this Linux Bible from a friend.

Nope, that wasn't a typo, he meant "inetd.conf", it's just that in recent times, inetd has been replaced with xinetd, so you will need to edit the file xinetd.conf.
