I am running redhat linux 8 on a maxdata vision 460t and it goes into standby mode or suspend mode every five minutes ,even from my first boot of linux , i dont know where i can check the settings for this but any help would be appreciated

im also new in linux, i have redhat 8. try going to the screensaver and turn it off, or go to power en devine it your self not to do anything whit the power, hope it helps.

Yeah, if you're running something like KDE, you can go into KControl (should be on your menubar at the bottom) and go into the settings for your Standby mode, shutdown mode, etc. You can change the times, or disable it if you want. I usually disable everything except monitor shutdown.
