I am a noob. I have installed Mandriva 2005 LE I am dual booting with WIN XP. I installed with my external Hard drive not connected. All was well and I have no problems with ML when I plug in my HD it shows up but tells me I do not have premission to access it. If I log in as root I can access it and try to change permissions but it says i do not have access to change permissions. This is a data storage drive with files, docs, and music on it I would like to be able to access the music.

Please help,

Noob tryin to learn

You need to mount the drive with the "user" option. How did you configure the drive to mount? Or did Mandriva do it for you?

If possible, can you post the contents of "/etc/fstab" (a file) here.
