New Linux user. Running SuSE 9.3, but had the same problem under Mandrake. The DVD-ROM shows up on the device list (D: /dev/hdc/, L: /dev/dvd/, MP: /media/dvd/), but I can't play CDs, DVDs, access data on CD-ROMs, or boot from CD-ROM. Media CDs play briefly, after which I'm told there is no media in the drive. Any ideas? The machine is a Thinkpad A20M.
