I have an HP Laserjet 2100 directly connected to RedHat Enterprise 3.0 box (i386). It has always worked fine even as a SAMBA printer from other PC's on the network. Now when I try to print from a networked PC the printout says:

PCL XL error

Subsystem: KERNEL

Error: IllegalTag

Position: 2

Anyone know how to fix this?

Sounds like the printer is out of memory. Did you try a large job?

Otherwise, I suggest powering off the printer for a few minutes, and turning it back on.

If not, you might be using an old version of ghostscript.
