OS - gentoo 1.4 rc_2

i have the Via vt86c100a nic in my box and finding that it wont allow out going connections.

when i run the cd, it loads the module (via-rhine) and seems to be setup, i check the module was loaded and it says it is.
i have used both the dhcp setup (auto) and the manual one, to set the correct IP etc
wasnt too sure about the broadcast one (noob here)
can anyone help??

when i run ifconfig i get the following

UP BROADCAST RUNNING
RX packets 0
TX packets 53

loopback works fine and i get 100% tx and rx.

I have no particular knowledge of whether this might help or not, but I do know that they've released 1.4rc3 of Gentoo, and this might help with your problem...
