After detecting everything I choose the languge but the new window doesn't open up then it gives me the defaults of reinstalling it.

Ya I had this problem, Do you have a windows partition if you do you can download the Suse Boot CD and boot off it, other wise use knoppix to check out the mount points and if the mount points and if the mount points are good then Suse is still there. Be sure to make sure you get the right version of the Suse boot disk or it wont work.
