Hi.

Just decided to finally take the plunge and go for linux, and I'm having problems straight away!

I bought SuSE and inserted the cd and everything was installing ok. After the first reboot I get an error from the monitor saying "out of range" and some numbers relating to the monitors horizontal and vertical sync (whatever that is).

can anyone help? could it be something to do with the way the graphics card has been installed under linux???

most frustrating!

Kind regards
Julian

you have to make sure you set your vertical and horizontal rates for your
monitor...else 1) you will damage your monitor OR 2) you will see a bunch
of garbage on your screen....

try running the configuration tool to reconfig your monitor setting
you will have to probably run through the Xfree86 configuration again

check in your manual to see what the command is to run the setup
from a command line
