Hi,

I want to install RedHat 9 onto a system that has just had the harddrive erased. When I turn on the system, all I see is No Operating System Found.

I've downloaded the following files from this site.
ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/9/en/iso/i386/

File: shrike-SRPMS-disc1.iso 622816 KB 3/14/2003 12:00:00 AM
File: shrike-SRPMS-disc2.iso 660832 KB 3/14/2003 12:00:00 AM
File: shrike-SRPMS-disc3.iso 434720 KB 3/14/2003 12:00:00 AM
File: shrike-i386-disc1.iso 653440 KB 9/3/2003 12:00:00 AM
File: shrike-i386-disc2.iso 661632 KB 3/14/2003 12:00:00 AM
File: shrike-i386-disc3.iso 496672 KB 3/14/2003 12:00:00 AM

But I don't know how to get from "No Operating System Found" to having an up and running system--or even a command line of some sort.

Does anyone know of a "Downloading RedHat Linux and Installing it on a Blank Machine For Dummies" site. Or maybe someone can offer me some help?

I appreciate the quick reply to my post. I began this process doing exactly that: burning the disk and trying to boot from that cd.

I did check before attempting to boot from the cd to make sure the bios was set up to boot from cd-rom.

Nevertheless, when I place the cd in the drive, and start the machine, it accesses the drive, then brings up the message "no operating system found".

Is it possible I just have a corrupt bootdisk (I did download it off the internet)? How do I tell?
