Whats this Lie-nix Thing?

my son installed linux on our computer, and then tried to install windows xp and now nothing is working. He has no idea about linux, i would like for him to try working with linux but not with this computer. How can I uninstall linux and then just load my windows xp? The computer is indicating that there is no hard drive, but linux comes up !!
HELP !!!

Use a windows boot disk to run fdisk and delete all the partitions (It should show some "non-dos" areas). Then just create anew NTFS partition for Windows, format it and install XP.

Why anyone would want Windows XP is beyond me, but then so is quantum theory...
