Hi I am very very new to Linux. I have to install Linux Slackware and I have a P3, with 512 MB RAM & 10G HDD which has NT on it. I don't care about NT, I want to format the HDD and install the slackware on it.
I burned the ISO image to a disk and tried to boot but the CD is not recognized. Tried another CD, same thing. I downloaded the RWITENT.EXE and made a bootable floppy with it. But I get a message to insert a root floppy for RAM Disk. Now, I don't know what is it and where do I get it from.
Could someone help. Thanks

Okay, a couple things:

First, what version of Slackware are you trying to install?

Second, is your motherboard capable of supporting bootable CDs?

If he's using disks to install linux, he can't boot CDs.

I assume you've tried to see if you can set CD to the first boot device in BIOS?

Anyhoo, this should do it for you:

ftp://carroll.cac.psu.edu/pub/linux/distr...ootdisks/bare.i
ftp://carroll.cac.psu.edu/pub/linux/distr...disks/install.1
ftp://carroll.cac.psu.edu/pub/linux/distr...disks/install.2

Replace the 10.0 in those links with the version of slackware you're installing.
