Hi, I have troubles re-installing Linux RedHat 9.
My station won't boot under linux: it keeps telling that there's an error in a file system.
The command "fsck -y /" did not arrange things, so I decided to re-install linux entirely.
But I don't manage to boot from the CD-rom.
My station is a dual boot machine and I use Grub to choose the OS.
Even if I declared in the BIOS the Cd-rom drive as the first source for the boot, I keep ending in the grub screen.
From there, I can either launch XP (which works fine) or launch linux (which crashes).
What can I do else ?
I tried everything I could think of, but to no avail....
Do anyone have any idea at all ???

Thanks !

maybe your boot cd got damaged, I mean if one sets the first boot device to cd, and puts in a cd it usualy boots....

what if you would try the following to make sure that the cd is accessed at all during boot up...

disable all drives in bios but cd, set the cd to 1st boot drive , save it reboot

and see if the light on the cd lights up , if it does...and it still won't boot check the cd , maybe it's dirty...or maybe you left it near some strong magnetic source...or heat source...
