I need a good distro for old hardware, and any tips you can give me.

Information about the computers:

486 (50mhz)
8mb ram
85mb hard drive

This machine has a 1.44 floppy drive, but no CD rom drive.

I plan on using these as firewall/router machines.

UPDATE: Tried the debian floppy disks, got 'kernel panic: out of memory and no killable processes"

There are some distro's expecially for use as firewall machines I think...

In fact, a quick google turned up this: http://www.coyotelinux.com/downloads/

Looks like it might be what you need...

I'll try it out with BasicLinux (since Coytote cannot be installed to the hard drive). Thanks!
