Hello All --

Here is my issue. I am looking for any assistance that will allow me to actually install Linux on my box. I am new to Linux and am desperately hoping I can complete an install in order to start using Linux. Here is my set-up:

- Older Micron PC running Dual Intel Pentium PRO 200
- 196 MB RAM
- Adaptec 2940UW SCSI controller
- Generic Network Card (brand unknown)
- Onboard Video
- Plextor 12x SCSI CD-ROM
- Seagate Hawk 20 GB SCSI Drive

Here is my issue:

When installing a version of Linux Fedora 2 I place the CD in the SCSI CD-ROM. The PC sees the Adaptec and CD-ROM in BIOS on boot-up but will not boot to CD. Everything is set in the controller's BIOS to allow booting from CD. To work around this I tried booting from floppy and installing that way.....the boot floppy untility runs fine untill it prompts me to direct the install to the actual MEDIA the install files are on........when I choose ANY of the selctions it tells me none are there. It looks as though the install CAN NOT see anything attched to the Adaptec controller. The only choice I have is to specify a driver for additional sources. I went to Adaptec and they have no such LINUX driver available and in fact state on thier website that my controller card is already imbedded in Linux and should work fine as is. How do I get the install I have to see the SCSI drives so I can install Linux - Will not see CD-ROM nor the hard drive. Is there a Linux driver for my controller card that I can put on a floppy?

Thanks in advance for any help!

The 2940 should be able to boot from CD. Do you know your install CDs are good? The SCSI controller uses the aic7xxx module. FC2 installer does not have a boot floppy option. What boot floppy were you using?
