Im trying to get apache web server up and running on my computer. but i have charter cable internet and they use dynamic ip. i can get to the web pages over the local but i cant connect outside the local network. Any help to get around the dynamic ip problem would be great. everything else seems to work.

Are you using a router? If so you will need to configure the router to forward port 80 to the IP address of the webserver. Its best to configure the webserver with a static IP address.

You can sign up with a free dynamic IP host site like www.noip.com. That you will always find the webserver no matter when your dynamic IP address changes.

What do you mean by local. Your LAN or the webserver itself.

Is there a firewall running on the webserver?

Charter blocks port 80.

Change your httpd.conf file to listen on port 81 instead, and set up a (free, probally) dymanic DNS name that will forward to yourfreedomain.ath.cx:81 instead of yourfreedomain.ath.cx

dyndns.com is a good one
