Whats this Lie-nix Thing?  Group: Members Posts: 3 Joined: 1-January 05 Member No.: 4,422  |
Im trying to get apache web server up and running on my computer. but i have charter cable internet and they use dynamic ip. i can get to the web pages over the local but i cant connect outside the local network. Any help to get around the dynamic ip problem would be great. everything else seems to work.

Are you using a router? If so you will need to configure the router to forward port 80 to the IP address of the webserver. Its best to configure the webserver with a static IP address.
You can sign up with a free dynamic IP host site like www.noip.com. That you will always find the webserver no matter when your dynamic IP address changes. |

What do you mean by local. Your LAN or the webserver itself.
Is there a firewall running on the webserver? |

Change your httpd.conf file to listen on port 81 instead, and set up a (free, probally) dymanic DNS name that will forward to yourfreedomain.ath.cx:81 instead of yourfreedomain.ath.cx dyndns.com is a good one -------------------- *Points finger at the author above him* They're a witch!
