Hey...tring linux for the first time here. I am using VMware and have Fedora Core 3 as a guest OS in it. I am trying to install the VM Tools so it works a bit better, but I need to boot without booting X, but it starts at startup. What do I need to do to make it so I just get a console to login under root?

Matt

Hi,

when linux boots up, open up the console type
CODE
cd /etc
vi inittab

and modify id:5:initdefault:

to

id:3:initdefault:

save, and reboot the system
and your in init level 3 without x, once done the installation come back here
and change it back to 5 , reboot, and your x is up n running again

Sincerely
Robert B
