Whats this Lie-nix Thing?

I found our access_log getting big, and decided to replace it with a smaller
version of the file by

mv access_log acess_log_bak
cat /var/logs/httpd/access_log_bak | grep Feb/2003 > access_log

I had also created a link to it in /var/www/html. I did some playing around with the link, and stuffed it up, but got it right.

The problem is that nothing is being added to the log now. I am not sure what I have done wrong.

you cant create a new log file like that....
just back up the old log file that is getting
big and then restart your webserver and
it will create a new log file that it can use..

you cant actually edit the log file because
once you edit changes something...
dont know exactly what...but nothing will
get added to it...

i might be wrong...but i have tried what you
are doing and it doesnt work.
