Whats this Lie-nix Thing?

hello, I currently have two hd's one with windows, and one with the fedora core 3. In my fedora on gnome, my display will only go up to 800 by 600, and is really anoying because i have a radeon 9800 pro and am used to 1280 by 1024, anyway i downloaded the linux rpm driver file from ati and i ran it in my fedora, but whats next? i am kindof a newbie to linux *Whoops hit post twice*

ATI Radeon 9800pro 128 mb
160gb Samsung Sata 150
120gb Maxtor Sata 150
Soundblaster live 24 bit edition
DVD+-RW Dual Layer formatting
Microsoft xp Home(Crappy OS)/Fedora 3 64-bit edition(really good os)
