Howdy!

I just installed Red Hat 9 Enterprise professional edition on my system, and after 2 weeks of messing with HP (well, here's the full story lol read that page real quick please) and their computers trying to get the recovery disks and almost killing myself with no sleep, I think Windows might let Linux sit by it now.

So.... I can choose in the boot menu which OS I want, great, but then when I load linux, as long as I add this to the kernel (sp?):

linux apm=off

Then it loads fine. Anyways, when it finishes loading, and, I'm assuming loads the GUI for Linux Red Hat 9, the monitor turns off saying please check display settings and now I can't see anything.

Please help me! I want to see again!

Hi,

next time when you start the computer and linux boots up, the screen goes away

try pressing CTRL+ALT+F1 to access the console

and there login via root

cd /etc/X11

vi XF86Config

look for monitor section
enter the correct vertical horizontal refresh rates

also change your driver to vesa in XF86Config

then type
reboot

Sincerely
Robert B
