Hi,

I have a serious problem. I'm running redhat 8.0.
Recently, dhclient keep stopping on its own, after every few days. What could be the possible reasons? Also, only root can start/stop dhclient, right?

Help!
Yee Seng.

Hi,

check /var/log/messages

see what was happening at the time when your dhcp client stopped

and tell us what the actual error message is, so we can help you

Sincerely

Hi,

I've got 2 servers, dhclient on both machines went down twice each. The consistent message just prior to those incidents is:
eth0 NIC Link is Up 100 Mbps Full Duplex

Below are some logs:
Dec 12 08:10:44 soloho ftpd[3934]: wu-ftpd - TLS settings: control allow, client_cert allow, data allow
Dec 12 08:10:45 soloho ftpd[3934]: FTP session closed
Dec 12 09:04:16 soloho kernel: e1000: eth0 NIC Link is Up 100 Mbps Full Duplex

Strange that it shows "NIC Link is Up" when I don't see a NIC Link went down entry in /var/log/messages. Those 2 machines are supposed to be up and connected 24hrs.

Any ideas??

Yee Seng.
