Ive gotten extremely used to using my mouse scrollbar button, and when I installed slackware 10, the mouse itself works, but the scroll bar does not do anything...

it's a microsoft intellipoint mouse.
like I said before, the only thing that doesnt work is the scrollbar/middle button, so I have to click to scroll down large pages...

Also, everything worked fine under Redhat

The xf86 config file should show something like:
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/mouse"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"

The zaxis mapping line is the one that activates the scroll wheel.

I do not know where Slackware sticks the configuration file but try.
/etc/X11/XF86Config
Go to the top of the page
