Greetings all.

I am trying to upgrade to kernel 2.4.27 on a HP Proliant 360 G3 that is running RedHat ES 2.1. I am using the guides here and from the Digital Hermit.

1) Downloaded the source from kernel.org and unzipped and untarred it /usr/src/linux-2.4.27 and linked it to /usr/src/linux.

2) Performed a make oldconfig in the the directory of the home directory of the old kernel and copied .config to the home directory of the new kernel.

3) Ran make oldconfig in the directory /usr/src/linux-2.4.27 and answered a bunch of questions.

4) Ran make dep, clean, bzImage, modules, modules_install with no errors.

5) Ran the command mkinitrd /boot/init-rd-24.27.ing 2.4.27 and it failed with the message

No module cciss_2445 found for kernel 2.4.27

Any help?

That module is for the hardware raid controllers.

Thanks,
Rodney
