When I try to install the above as soon as the loading of the kernal from the boot floppy finishes the machine crashes with a "kernal bug .... invalid operand".

Same set of installation floppies works perfectly on a Pentium 100 and a Celeron 800 machine.

Are Pentium and Athlon instruction sets identical?
or
Do Pentiums have instructions that are not included in the Athlon set?

Has anybody successfully installed Suse on an Athlon machine?

Dave

I'm afraid that I don't know about the instruction sets between Pentiums and Athlons, however, I do have running a SuSE 8.0 system using an Athlon 1600xp processor and have experienced no problems. I'm not sure whether or not the newer version of SuSE will make a difference, but I'm hoping to upgrade soon, so I guess I'll find out.
