I was trying to see if I could set up a Vivitar Vivicam 3350 in Linux(Debian Based) and I noticed that it was detected as an Argus DC-1500! Also, its entry in the KDE Control Center under peripherals can list the number of pictures and the chipset. What is causing this? Also, what drivers, etc. could I find for it. It is aparently a TWAIN device. Go easy, I'm new around here, and thanks.

Looks like that camera is a usb device ... just try this:

after plugging it in, see if there is a new directroy in /media

if not, do this:

mkdir /mnt/camera
mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/camera

see if the pictures are in the directory /mnt/camera

Where is the media directory typically located at?

It is in the /media (that is ... it is at the top level like /etc and /dev).

That is created with some of the new distros ... if you don't have /media, try mounting the device
