There is a new Linux distro out there called Ubuntu Linux. Ubuntu is based on Debian, easy to install, on a release cycle similar to the other linux distros (6 month release cycle, 18 month support).

They have released their first official version, called WartyWarthog.

This distro is very updated and they are adding packages all the time. Currently it only has GNOME, but probably will soon have KDE as well. (Note: KDE is now available ... but not officially supported).

Normally I wouldn't post a release of a new distro, but this one seems to be a very good starting point as a workstation for new linux users ... so I thought it might be good for the LinuxHelp users to try it out.

I have installed Ubuntu on my multi-OS test machine, and it is going to stay there for quite a while. If you are looking for a workstation version of Linux, give it a try.
