I am new to linux. I reciently got Red Hat 9, but realized that all the "geek" that I thought I had stored up was nothing. I went out and got a book to help me understand linux. So far, all it has done is serve as an expensive mouse pad. I have installed RH9 and have basic functions, but I want to do more. If there is a website that someone knows of that can explain how to do stuff so that a "not geek" dry.gif can understand it, it would be very helpful.

Here is a good guide to start with.
------------------------------
RedHat 9 is OK to learn with ... BUT, it is no longer supported by RedHat. This means that it is not currently recieving security updates. Just as security updates are important on Windows machines, they are important on Linux machines.

I would recommned that you consider installing Fedora Core 2 instead of RedHat 9.

If you made it through the RedHat 9 process, the Fedora Core 2 process should be the same...
