Is there a way to cache NIS authentication? I use NIS, ypserv, and ypbind to authenticate Linux logins. However, sometimes there is not an active network connection.

Microsoft Windows has a feature like this that caches domain logins.

The immediate case is an extra building where the VPN goes out sometimes. blink.gif

The other case is laptop users who take their machines home.
