OK 23 views and no replies, do I need to move this to a different Forum?
Hello
I started using Mandrake yesterday and I am glad I did. Very glad.
The thing I need to do now is use a external HD that is still NTFS file system for WinXP.
Please tell me it will not need to be formated. It has tons of audio and video that I want to keep.
*Also, I have noticed that browsing the internet is slower.
Thank you

Is the drive USB or Firewire?

Assuming you do not have any other SCSI or USB devices connected the device ID of the drive should be /dev/sda1. First have a go at mounting the drive. Log in as root (via su command) and then attempt to mount the drive:

First create a directory to use as a mount point
mkdir /mnt/usb
mount -t ntfs /dev/sda1 /mnt/usb
