Whats this Lie-nix Thing?

i recently tried to learn PHP on my computer so i went and enabled my Apache server and tried a simple PHP site but it didnt work. my friend said that it needs to be in a specific folder for my comp to parse PHP properly but we couldnt find any folder like that. is there a special folder or something else that i need 2 enable? unsure.gif

the files have to just be placed where your root directory is for your webserver...for example

for redhat the directory is

and the files need a .php extension
