I'm trying to install a VNC program from a .bin file to control my linux server from a remote server. The problem I'm having is that it keeps giving me an error anytime I try to install from any .bin files. The error is as follows:

ERROR: Unable to create LOG file

Installation was ABORTED.
Press return to exit:

Then I press return to exit and thats that.....
Sorry if this is a dumb question but I'm new to Linux and can't figure this out for the life of me.

you might want to try the installation as root

login as root

or before installing the program type

su - root

and enter your root password and install the program.
